BC & Rockies

Route 1

Vancouver to Prince George

 

Through the Rocky Mountains.

VIA Southernmost BC highway, HWY 3.

 

Starting from Vancouver.

Stops include:

  • Kettle Valley- See Kettle Valley Railway

  • Radium Hot Springs

  • Lake Louise

  • (Possible side trip to Banff.)

  • Short hike to Peyto Lake- must see

  • Columbia Icefield- Athabaska Glacier, Visitor Centre, and ride out to walk on the glacier.

  • Athabasca Falls

  • Jasper: town, Skytram, many lakes, canyons, whitewater rafting, tours, wildlife, see link below.

  • Mount Robson- must see

  • Prince George

Route 1 Attractions

BC & Rockies

Route 2

Vancouver to Prince George

 

Through the Rocky Mountains.

VIA quicker route- Coquihalla Highway.

 

Starting from Vancouver.

Stops include:

  • Kelowna/ Wineries/ Lake Okanagan/ 

  • (Possible skiing side trip- Silver Star Mountain Resort.)

  • Lake Louise

  • (Possible side trip to Banff.)

  • Short hike to Peyto Lake- must see

  • Columbia Icefield- Athabaska Glacier, Visitor Centre, and ride out to walk on the glacier.

VIA HWY 16; Ferries; Vancouver Island.

 

Starting from Prince George.

Stops include:

  • Smithers- Outdoor, year-round playground, skiing

  • Prince Rupert

  • Ferry to Haida Gwaii Queen Charlotte Islands

  • Ferry back to Prince Rupert

  • Ferry from Prince Rupert, through the Great Bear Rainforest, past whales, to Port Hardy, Vancouver Island

  • Port Hardy

  • Cathedral Grove- must see

  • Tofino- Must see-  Clayoquot Sound, Hot Springs Cove, Long Beach, Meares Island, Pacific Rim National Park, Wickannish Nature Centre, Whale Watching, Bear Watching, Ocean Kayaking

  • Victoria, BC Capital

  • Whistler, BC- Village and Ski Resort

  • Vancouver
